Mosin nagant mods

Just remember this, despite all the purists who cry foul, it belongs to you. At the end of the day, you can woop it against a tree if it makes you happy and no one can tell you otherwise.

I would prefer to keepit as original as possible......unless it doesn't suit me. I'm nothing of not a hypocrite on the subject.

What did that poor tree do to get whooped with a Mosin? ;)

I did the ATI stock, bolt, drill and tap on a 1943 with an excellent bore, but damaged stock and rough ground up receiver. My M44 and Chinese T53 both stocks were in poor condition and got the BLO treatment, but otherwise in original condition. My Finn M24 is original except for rust/corrosion cleanup.

Agreed.   And we (most anyone on this forum) will be long gone when the untouched ones have any "real" value (as in, 1k +); that  will take 50-75 years or more.

I guess the important thing to take away..... at least KNOW if your gun is a "rare or uncommon" variation before you hacksaw.

I have left most of mine alone. One I did modify (significantly) and it has surprised me and everyone that has shot it being more accurate than expected. To date, it's held 1.2 MOA out to 400 yards. I personally, think it will do a little better and going to try it next weekend again.

Thoughts: The rarer Mosins, do not touch.  The inexpensive ones, that will not be rare, or will not be rare for a long time, buy two (or more.)  The best one(s), keep as is.  The torn up one, keep all the parts, and play with.  If you are concerned with future value, make sure 100% of what you do is reversable.  If there is no concern over that, then do what you want, it is your rifle.

No one can own just one.

This is what I am doing. I have an M39 and M44 that I won't touch other than clean or repair, but I bought a couple of 91/30s a while back and may modify the least desirable of the two...problem is that they both look pretty good so I'm having difficulty determining which is the least desirable. :)
