If only one gun, AR-15 with the carbine upper in addition to a 410 upper....

Shotgun, probably.   Ammo for any type of situation, keep it loaded for defense and you can toss in any type of hunting round upon spotting the game if you leave the chamber empty.   223 is mediocre for large game, waporizes wabbits, fails on birds, and while superior for dealing with large numbers of attackers, I have no delusions that I can use it well enough to handle 10+ guys without myself being taken out so meh.  I am a prematurely old computer nerd, not rambo.

I've kicked a lot of doors and rarely ever needed the help of a shotgun, mainly because nearly all doors in Iraq are made of metal, with metals frames anchored to concrete. It is not preferred to do a shotgun breach on metal doors like that since breaching rounds aren't going to work,

I thought the copper matrix/frang/lock shock rounds worked on metal doors?

Yeah, they were referred to as "hatton" rounds. Not very effective at all on metal doors. The problem is you're trying to knock out the latch that secures the door, but the way the metal frames are there is normally a 1/8 inch piece of steel protecting that latch; that round ain't penetrating that. The only alternative is to shoot the actual door just to the side of the handle in hopes you hit the part that joins the handle to the latch, but not only is that not reliable, there is a good chance it'll just seize up the latch altogether.

The great thing about those doors is you can kick them in super easy 9 times out of 10. If not a battering ram to the hinge area will take it out quick.
