My first 1911!

Well, I've been saving up some money and it was burning a hole in my pocket. I was wanting to buy more parts for my AR-15 build, but with the whole Evil Black Rife craziness. It makes it difficult for me to get some of the remaining parts. Anyways, I decided to get something else with that money. I stopped into one dealer in Rivergate and found very limited selection. I've done business with them 2 times prior, but didn't see anything that I had a sudden urge to buy. I left and pulled into G&L in Hendersonville. The staff was professional and courteous. Most all the staff was busy with other customers and the ones that weren't, were asking if I needed any help. I started out by the 1911's and browsed down toward the Glocks. Saw a few that I wouldn't mind owning. I walked back toward the 1911's and asked to look at two Remington 1911's they had in the case. One was the standard black and one in stainless. The one in stainless and the others in the case were above my budget. I figured I hadn't added a 1911 to my collection yet and yesterday would be as good a day as any. So decided on the black one. The G&L employee and I started the paperwork and background check. While waiting for the background check to get finished and have the 1911 transfered on the stores paperwork from one G&L to the other G&L. I double checked my account balance.  My total account balance was xxxx.xx, and the available balance was lower. I discussed my situation will the employee and the store manager was brought up to speed on my situation. They decided to let me put it on lay-away and pay the remaining balance today. I thanked them for their understanding of my situation and working with me. Guns & Leather will be getting more business from me in the future. Kudos to the entire staff at  Guns & Leather.

I have the ruger & love it. I had a colt and I honestly like the ruger better.

That's a great story and you made a great pick. Personally I love the black look of the 1911's, just like they were back when.

Im about too take up the 1911 addiction if my bookkeeper(wife)approves. My son who has many Kimber 1911's and insists I need to own one.Ive been carrying a S&W 38 and my son I think wants his old man to stop embarassing him. He is offering me a sweet tactical custom II for a crazy low price!
