Humorous headline in the Cookeville paper.

PUTNAM COUNTY — A burglar who was cutting a window screen at a Chloe Lane home around 3 a.m. Saturday took off running when the homeowner pointed a pistol out the window, law officers said.

In Putnam Sheriff’s Deputy Will Page’s report on the case, he calls it an attempted breaking and entering.

The deputy was dispatched to the home to take a report. The man and woman who live there told him what had happened.

“He stated that his bedroom is in the front facing his driveway. He said he was asleep in his bedroom along with his dog, a husky. Around 3:10 a.m., the dog started growling, which woke him and he could hear someone cutting his window screen.

“He said he called his dog and pulled her out of the way. He also retrieved his pistol, which he sleeps with. He stated that he could see a man with a large knife making the final cuts to the window screen needed to gain entry.

“He said that he then pointed his pistol out the window and cocked it. The burglar then ran.”

An extra watch patrol was ordered for the neighborhood.

I wonder if you could smell the burglars departure?

Ooooh, that's gonna leave a stain.

I have to shut my dog up in the bathroom at bedtime cause he will pee on the carpet in the house if left alone to ramble. He wont do it with us awake and around.

Wish we could leave him out to help guard the house.
