From the article speaking of the weapons used in gang related shootings:

Chattanooga has tallied at least nine shootings to date, many gang-related, police said. It's a good bet that the triggermen didn't
have any kind of permit, and most of the guns used probably are stolen, said Boyd Patterson, coordinator of Chattanooga's gang task force.

"For all we know, they could be coming from some of these folks out there in the suburbs with handgun permits," he said.

How about we get the judiciary to drop the hammer on some of the crooks who are breaking and entering, maybe slow down the availability of stolen weapons?

The way that article ends like that really pisses me off. That cop needs to STFU, because as I see it he is attempting to somehow put the onus on permit holders for gang related crime. If gangs are a problem that are out of control, maybe they need to fire certain sh** bird cops who don't own the responsibility to curb gang related crime as opposed to blaming the LAW ABIDING folks. Are there any cops on here that work with this idiot?

If you are talking about Boyd Patterson he is an assistant DA, not a cop. He is the head of the " gang task force" whatever that is :) Edited by RevScottie

That makes even more sense; a crappy DA that puts violent criminals back on the streets through lowered sentence plea deals so that his conviction rate looks good on paper, then blames the law abiding citizens for the crime.  This guy should suck start the tailpipe of his BMW.

Chattanooga's mayor and former police chief denied for years that there was a gang problem but then suddenly decided well we do have a gang problem and appointed this guy to head up the task force.

I love how they broke down the statistics of education, income, etc. Its a great read for local residents and the numbers are constantly growing!
