VX II 4x12x40 vs. SWFA SS 10x42

I'm torn now.  I was set on getting the SWFA based on reviews; but before I pulled the trigger I found a VXII for $50 bucks more, I have experience with Leupold but have never handled a SWFA.  I like the size/weight of the VX II (my LAR-8 is heavy enough); but like the 30mm/mildot of the SWFA.

Application will be punching paper 1-300 yrds and hunting deer under 250 yards.

Let the opinions roll in.  Is there any other scope that I should consider? in the $3-400 price range.

I like my SWFA 12x. The mil-quad reticle is pretty cool and one of the main reasons I bought it plus the great reviews and price.

SWFA: i've run both. kept the SWFA. not a better scope out there for that kind of money.
yes, it's heavy, but for a reason. it's tough as hell and the glass is excellent.
