Backorders at Sportsman's guide

These were supposed to ship on 2-18, and I hadn't heard ANYTHING, so contacted them via email.  Here's the response:

 

 

Dear Benton,

 

Thank you for your email.

Presently ammunition is in very high demand and our goal is to fill every order but with the short supply back order dates might be pushed out or even canceled if we are unable to get the product.

 

Item number 282614 from your order, 91997759, is still on backorder.  The backorder date has not been updated because we are still expecting this shipment or waiting to hear from the vendor what the new date is.  If the date changes by 21 business days you will be notified with an FTC (Federal Trade Commission) notice which will ask whether or not you would like to keep the item on backorder.  We will need a response within 10 days or we are required to cancel per FTC regulations.

 

I do apologize for the frustration this has caused you and hope you can understand that we are working with our suppliers to provide the swiftest shipment possible.

 

Please remember that we do not charge for backorders until we can ship.

My interpretation:  We're doing as little to keep the customer informed as the law allows.

I had an Item back ordered from them before, and they did in fact fill it as fast as possible. Due to the current chaos in this country, you may want to give them a little time, or maybe place your order elsewheres. They are honorable people to deal with. That's been my experience over the years!

Yep, what could be more fair these days. They don't charge card unless shipped, and that's an important factor.

 

I got one of the FTC required notices on something or other from them once, I opted to let order stand, dang if I didn't get it a few days later.

I've got stuff on order all the time with them. Right now I have a back order that now won't be filled until 5/1 I think. No big deal since I don't "need" the item right now. I've dealt with them for years and always been happy.

I have always had great service from them.  Their shipment expectation dates are usually accurate.  I suspect in the current climate that is getting harder and harder.

I'm not really put-off by the fact that it didn't ship, just by their failure to communicate to me that the shipping date changed.  And their legalistic response.

This is my first order with them.  Glad to hear y'all have had good experiences.

I had a couple of small items backordered with SG, including ammo. I've received most of it this week.

 

Still waiting on some Wolf 7.62x25 HP, may be a while longer.
