Question about AR lower?

This might be a stupid question but I am going to ask it anyways...

Will .22 AR's (with mag wells that aren't modified to just accept .22 mags) accept 5.56/.223 uppers?

My thought is that you could buy a .22 AR and stick a 5.56/.223 upper for the same price you could buy a 5.56/.223 AR. Plus you would have uppers for 2 different calibers.

No. They are purposely made slightly different. You can but an AR-15 and a .22 conversion.

Yeah, most are .22lr only, but at least one, the ATI Omni will run standard 5.56 uppers:

Must not be much regarded though, PSA has had them for weeks, not sold out at $500.

The Omni is polymer only right ?

Yeah, and this baby is polymer upper also.

You'd still think it would be a decent buy, since stripped Omni lowers alone are going for $70 and up. Have one coming myself, will be $107 after shipping/FFL transfer/TICS.

most all of the 22lr's are made in germany by the same company... Colt, S&W and such... so they are nothing like an AR except looks... the bolt catch doesn't even function on the Colt...just there for looks
