It's a metric M6x100. As far as length you don't need a long one, 1 in. usually works for those.

M6 is the size, 100 is the length (100mm) ~ 4" long.

If you really only need one 1" long, Lowes or HD will have one in their specialty fasteners cabinets.  If you really need one 4" long, you may have to go to an actual fastener place.

i was just using walmart as an example .. just meaning that's what i should ask for? a 1 inch M6x100?

Not quite.  A 1 inch M6 bolt will be listed as M6x25.  You may even find it listed as M6x1.  Walmart may not have them.  I'm sure Lowes or HD will.

Nope.  :)

A #6 screw has SAE (english) threads.  An M6 screw has metric threads (hence the M).  The two are not interchangeable.

An M6 bolt has a shank diameter of .... 6mm (0.236").

A #6 screw has a shank diameter of 0.138" (screw # multiplied by 0.013"....   6*0.013=0.138").  So the #6 is considerably smaller.
