Capitol One burning up the credit report inquiries

These are just soft inquiries so they don't impact my score at all, but the frequency is insane. After looking through the report this morning, I think we understand now why there's a Capitol One CC application in the mail almost daily:

26 inquiries in 7 months. Am curious what the purpose is of checking multiple times a month over and does anyone know how to block them from doing this? I know there is recourse for illegitimate hard inquiries, but really haven't seen anything on these type of inquiries used for marketing

Get an account with them and it will stop.  Maybe that is their new tactic.... credit check you into submission.

They just add to the burn pile around this home.

Just had a great Idea, say you get one from chase, and CC, tear them up, and send them to each other. They always send a envelope al;ready stamped, So you are helping the USPS and giving someone else a job that has to open and throw them away, And if you don't want to send the application back to them, just put some other junk mail in it.

I actually had about 300 small thin steel plates once upon a time.

Put one in the junk mail return envelopes and returned them until I used them all.

Didn't do any good, don't reckon, but tickled me at least.

I do this! Sometimes I send them coupons for great deals on pizza and 10% off tanning bed visits. Lots of coupons. I know they like it.

Suddenly I feel bad about throwing those 10 credit card apps I get a week in the trash.

I like the junk mail that includes a real dollar bill in it. Tells you how much your money is actually worth if they will do that.

If you go here: www.optoutprescreen.com you can opt out of all this junk. You can do it online, and it will last 5 years, or send them a letter and it will last forever. Go to the opt out page and select everything.
