I don't think it's a good idea because the population density just isn't great enough to sustain a niche service like this. Computers and broadband are dirt cheap now, plus with all of these businesses/schools offering free wifi, I really think it would be a lost cause. Plus with the risk of people doing some unauthorized stuff from your systems, you could be held accountable, and even if LE deems the liability not yours, imagine what would happen if the newspapers and local websites read "Acme PC cafe investigated for child pornography downloading", that would shut the doors in a blue second.

The reason these thrive in other countries is because of low income, people can't afford the broadband or decent computer... It is definitely not the case here

Plus most all gamers will have their own dedicated PC, with the dependence on dedicated applications and mods for games, I know the thought of not playing on my machine, with my locally saved macros and add-ons gives me cold sweats.

And the idea of breaking out into a nerd rage when I get ganked cause I am out farming nodes is not something I want the public to see.

I think a cafe with free wifi is more the norm today than an actual internet cafe. That seems so 90s.

But I haven't been a gamer for a while now.

The other bummer is, I keep seeing on game now the disclaimer stating that pay-for-play on retail games is illegal. That would be something else you would want to look at.

I'd opine it's a biz on the way out.

Soon we'll be wired all the time with a receiver the size and thickness of a credit card, 3-D monitor built into sunglasses or side view optical or whatever.

These things are still common down in Florida near the old folks communities, the ones who are living on SS and wouldn't have much of a knack for technology even if they could afford a computer and broadband services.

I would much prefer they develop a way to tap into my ocular nerves through the spinal column to be honest.

The hell with 'mark of the beast' and all that jive, it would be so much easier to do a Google Search to win arguments if I didn't have to use the 4" screen on my phone anymore...

Internet cafe's and Public Libraries were the thing a few years ago to get on the web.  My Motorola RAZR can surf the net as good as most of these did back in the day.
