Diamondback DB-15 hand guard Issue / Warranty Dept Response

I picked up a Diamondback DB-15 FDE in December right before it got really insane. A couple weeks later I received a set of Troy Battle Sights. The rear sight went on without a hitch, but mounting the front sight I noticed something was off ...

It was obvious that the front Picatinny rail wasn't machined right, but I wanted to at least shoot my new gun. I ran a few rounds through it, and had to crank the rear sight way over to the right to zero it.

So at this point I contacted their customer service dept. I sent them pictures, they sent a shipping label. I thought, "great, they'll just screw on a new hand guard and I'll be good." Two weeks later, after hearing nothing from them, after trying to contact them to at least verify they received it, my AR-15 is dropped off by UPS.

Unfortunately, the picatinny rail on the handguard was still machine improperly / too thick to mount the sight.

I've contacted their warranty department, who expressed surprise and promises to find out what happened here.  Regardless, I don't intend to send the rifle back a second time.  It's a good gun otherwise, so I'll fix it myself and simply avoid Diamondback products in the future.

UPDATE 2/22: After some back and forth, they told me they are aware of issues with the machining of the handguards.  Rather than have me mail the rifle back again, they are sending me another handguard to see if my front sight fits properly.  At this point, I appreciate that they're working so hard to address the issue.  I'm hopeful that the rifle will be put right.

TL/DR: The front Picatinny rail on my Diamondback DB-15 FDE is machined incorrectly and therefore it's impossible to mount the front sight properly. Mailed it to them, got it back 2 weeks later exactly the same.

Will a standard m4/AR hand guard fit it? Or does it have to have a DB specific handguard

I'm 99% sure that a standard hand guard will fit it.  Honestly, it's a great gun otherwise (bolt, buffer, upper, lower are all great and fit great) and that might be the thing that annoys me the most.  I just feel like it should have been cut right the first time, I sent it back to give them a second chance and they still messed up, so now I'm done with their products entirely.  I don't expect zero mistakes, but I expect manufacturers to fix them when they're made.

I have one that is great. But i have heard that their Quality Control is almost nonexistent. I would be mad if it was mine...then id get over it and slap a scope or an EOTech on it

Whose handguard is it? If it's not a Diamondback product, perhaps there is recourse on the OEM?

Just the same, with plenty of handguard options, don't let a $100 fix stop you from enjoying your rifle.

Literature says they machine it in their shop.

They sure look like a YHM IMO.

It does look like the Todd Jerrett series, but it's not.

Yeah, I've had some time to cool off.  I won't buy another Diamondback product, but it's a good rifle otherwise so might as well enjoy it.  Been looking at scopes, and aftermarket hanguards.

Sweet! Glad they are working with you on it. If they do make it right and make you happy maybe consider changing the thread title. Or maybe not if they don't. :pleased:

I didn't see an option to do that, maybe I'm missing it?  I agree though.
