Did you dial "0" from the men's room to call in a shoe-shine boy?  :)

That place is so cool. I went in yesterday and noticed that Capone's hiding alcove has been permanently covered by the mirror. It's to the left of the shoe shine stands. You can see at the base of the wall beneath the mirror where the tiles don't line up right.

We were looking for the hiding alcove.  We did see the mirror but it wouldn't move.

Yes we picked up the phone, it rang, we promptly hung up.  We didn't want our tennis shoes shined. =)

Station inn is my pick. 12th ave south

Wow...flashback!  I used to go there back in the late 80's.  You absolutely never knew who was gonna walk out and play. Back then, I saw some real bluegrass legends at the Station Inn. Vassar Clements was a regular and their almost every weekend.  I remember seeing the New Grass Revival band several times too, along with a lot of faces without names of new musicians that could give anyone a run for their money.

tootsies downtown is where i go for cold beer and music.   i don't go for the food.  there are better places for food downtown.  eat somewhere else then go for cold beer and music.  it can get standing room only on the first floor.  upstairs there is all way room.  but the best band is down stairs.  there is a bbq place next to opryland mall that has food/beer/live music.  i don't remember the name, but the bbq was ok, the music was better.

OK, where can a 58 yr old guy and his 55 yr old wife of 33 yrs go to have good eats, good Nashville-style music (could be blues/jazz/country?) and get a good bed for the night without driving to East Hey Zeus, fight 22 yr olds, without listening to interstate traffic all night, or having to hang out with blue hairs?  I'm looking for a middle ground here, help me out.

For blues, there's the BB King Blues Club on 2nd Ave. just off the main strip.

Something that weirded me out about the place though was that they have bathroom attendants.
