Check to see if there's a new mexican restaurant in town. Could have been a 'gas' explosion.

I was in Morristown when this happened. I was inside the UPS office on the east side of town mailing a package (to a member here actually).  The UPS clerk got a phone call from his buddy that was working in the center of town and he told him that there was an explosion and everyone was outside looking around. There were four of us there at the time and none of us heard or felt it (and a couple of the bay doors were wide open too), so it must have been isolated to a small part of town.

Could have been an underground gas explosion, not related to utilities. Where there's coal, there's gas, and it explodes

occasionally. A lot of methane can make quite a bang.

The 1st one definitely got my attention. I thought there was an explosion in my subdivision. I heard the second one but it wasn't as strong. My dog usually starts barking if he thinks he heard a squirrel fart but didn't pay any attention to whatever this was.

I live and work in Morristown.  There is a metal scrap yard on the south side of town.  There are occasional explosions heard from there.  I was told it's usually a vehicle gas tank or propane tanks in their machinery used to shred and compact the metal.  I have heard a couple of explosions from there this week including a pretty loud one.  I was probably a half mile or more from the scrap yard when one explosion was large enough that the concussion was significant.  I can't say for sure but would suspect this may be what was heard and felt.

I do the tannerite thing over in Grainger county.
