NO regard for others

Went to the range yesterday and had an older guy maybe my age or a little younger and maybe his son and daughter with him. They were in the lane next to us shooting. One shooting and the other using the button to make it a moving target which is very distracting indoors. They shoot two targets and after about 20 minutes left. When we were ready to leave we cleaned up and were ready to leave when I noticed that they couldn't even swept up the shells or even throw their targets in the trash can, they just left. To me it shows no respect for anyone really nice lesson to be teaching to the young people! Edited February 11, 2013 by JoeW

I don't like people sweeping up around me when I am shooting.  Not sure how close they were to you though.

I see it as them leaving me the brass. I don't mind picking up other people's brass. The majority of the brass I use came from other people.

I am kind of torn.  If this was a public range (free), then the user should leave it has it was found if not in better condition.  If this is a fee range, then leaving trash and casings helps to get the most value for your buck, let someone else worry with it.  If the scavengers don't tidy up, it gives the employees something to do, it adds jobs.  Just my 2 cents.

I don't know; G&L paid a LOT of money to build a hi-tech indoor range that does that. Might actually be a good training thing for you, to help you with your own focus.

I can see both sides of this. Before a family member of mine got into reloading I would sweep up my brass and ask the people around if they wanted it. That doesn't bother me so much ... but they probably should have thrown the targets away.

As far as moving target, I have to say, I'm guilty. Think it makes for good training.

Most shooters are such noobs that when they leave a target, I am happy to use it --- usually the middle is still there and their shotgun patter off the center does not bother me  :)

Make your own mess, clean your own mess up. I don't leave my own mess when I'm at the range, even if I give the brass away.

About the same thing as seeing some cow dropping her baby's freshly changed diaper in an aisle of a grocery store. Classy.

The proper thing to do at my club is to clean up your brass. If you don't reload leave reloadable stuff on the table and sweep your rimfire off the concrete pad. It's ok to leave yor targets on the plinking range but not ok on any of the other ranges.
