NRA Courses

Did I pick a bad time to do some learnin or does no one in SE Tennessee do any NRA courses? I decided to see what was available for a basic pistol course and the closest I could find this morning was 1 1/2 - 2 hours away in GA. I also checked on some of the other types of courses and they were even farther away. I'll keep checking the website but I'm not sure how often it gets updated.

Excuse any typos. Sending from my phone. Edited by Spank

So I wouldn't be learning too much then. What is a good next step for instruction, considering that's about all the instruction I've had? So far I just have to learn things on my own via reading /videos.

Phone posting is painful. My new year goal is to get some training and education to start putting range time to actual good use.

This may have been better off posted when I got home. Lol. I wondered about taking an Nra defensive pistol course but I wasn't sure what skill level or knowledge was expected so that's why I started with the basic course. Edited by Spank

I'd look for an intermediate pistol course. Many of them will focus on things such as concealed carry, drawing from concealment, and running your handgun. How to handle stoppages and reloading (the gun, not ammunition) should be covered. You will have less classroom time and more time on the range. Expect to shoot several hundred rounds of ammo.

That sounds exactly what I'm wanting /needing. I guess the next question is does anyone have recommendations for where to get that training in the surrounding Chattanooga area? Within an hour driving distance would be ideal.

A few weeks back my wife, a few buddies and myself took a one day defensive pistol class that covered the things mentioned above.  We took the class at Shootrite, its in Alabama but its only about 1 1/2 hours from Chattanooga, wasn't a bad drive at all and well worth it.  They are affiliated with Thunder Ranch and the instruction was great.

I'll look into it, thank you. If anyone else has suggestions I'd love to hear them.
