Remington 552 Speedmaster.

Barrel code indicates manufacture date of 08/1972.

There's a few minor dings on the stock. The barrel is clean with no rust at all. Action looks very good with minimal wear.

All in all a very nice little .22.

I'll range test this puppy tomorrow.

I've been looking for an older 552 for a couple of years.

I saw two ugly, beat up 552s in a gun store a few years back. If I knew then what I know now I'd have bought them both.

Love mine, wouldn't mind having another. Congrats on the find!

Now that brings back memories. That was my squirrel hunting rifle of choice back in the 60's. Got one for my 16th birthday in 1966. Sure wish I had it today.

NICE!   I may have to start hittin up the local yard sale's!

Posted

Around here it seems like the yard sales mostly have clothes, toys, old kitchen appliances and broken furniture.

The best find I ever had was an unused 5 foot wooden oar, about 15 years ago.

Yeah same here. This was just a fluke.

Range report.

I put about 300 rounds of Remington Golden through it today with no problems. Shoots well and is pretty accurate at the 50 yd plinking range.

When I got back I disassembled and cleaned. I don't think the gun had been cleaned for 20 years.

First rifle I ever bought was a Remington 572 Fieldmaster.  Bought it at B.F. Myers furniture store in Goodlettsville, TN.  Was that almost a yard sale?
