Good article. It looks like it won't be long before hogs are all around me. There's hogs about 2 miles form where I sit now.

Not for free I don't. Most I know are charging 250.00 to 500.00 to get on "the list". And others with hogs on their property don't allow hunting at all. It's a bad situation all the way around!

If they really want the hogs gone, it seems TWRA would ease the restrictions quite a bit more often. Why limit it to just a 10-day hunt?

someone might filch a deer when they are not looking.

Hogs will always be a problem. They'll probably never be killed out of an area, once they get established. There's been hogs around Dale Hollow Lake for years, and they've been hunted hard in some places too. I think that there shouldn't be a limit on how many hunters a landowner can let help out. it should be his/her decision.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Seems wildlife laws, game wardens, the TWRA was created to regulate and control indigenous wildlife and protect the resource. Since when are feral and / or escaped domestic swine a wildlife resource that requires protection, rules and regulation?

What's next? Regulating the Starlings population and packs of domestic feral canines?

Or quest for control/power.  TWRA thinks we are here for them not them for us.

Reminds me...Did you ever see the cans of "potted possum" ?  I had a buddy back in the 80's that was making a killing off of relabeled Hormel potted meat....until the USDA nabbed him.  He advertised "includes snouts and feet, gravel removed"

I seem to remember that. Been a long time ago...

That is some sound wisdom right there!  I will be reusing that if you don't mind.  Sounds like your pappy was a smart man.
