I didn't know about the battle of Athens until I moved to TN. I've brought it up in quite a few conversations with friends, family and neighbors and it seems I was not alone in my ignorance.

The people this time face a bigger and more powerful enemy force in the Feds with their billions of stockpiles of ammo, swat teams, armored vehicles, drones, helicopters, intelligence gathering, the threat of people being killed or facing long prison sentences in FEMA camps, waterboarding to get information where your guns and ammo are located.
The people today are not as principled like the citizens of Athens, b/c they keep voting for these corrupt politicians, and keep believing their lies that they are going give them everything they will need from cradle to grave. It will be a piece of cake the day the commies decide they are ready to confiscate your guns.

If we were still living in those times, the current commie occupant wouldn't be living in the WH much less even getting re-elected. Too many people have drank the dumbass kool-aid since those days.
