this. i've tried to use a little heat but it didn't help. i broke out my camp stove and put a wet towel across the frame and heated the barrel up to the point it was smoking. nothing. i even thought oh what the hell, i'll go the opposite way to see if it is reverse threaded...nothing. i would use my vice grips but i'm afraid of warping the inner barrel.

anyone have any ideas?

Good luck.  I had to use channel locks to get mine off.

i would do that but i'm afraid of warping the inner barrel

i finally got it! i put my channel locks as tight as they would go so i could control the force it was exerting on the barrel and it finally came off. it wasn't one of those things that once it gets to a certain point it can be finished by your fingers, i had to use the pliers the entire time until it came off. the barrel threads are fine and my thread adapter for my suppressor fits on fine with just my fingers. the barrel nut is all marred up though. i'm going to contact S&W and see if they will send me a new nut and wrench b/c this thing shouldn't have been on there that tight and i shouldnt have to scratch up and notch a new gun to get it off.

Try soaking it in Kroil for a day or so. I did that with a stuck shotgun choke and it came right out.

This.  No need for brute force if you keep some Kroil handy.

Just an update:

Called S&W about the issue to ask for a replacement barrel nut and wrench since this sucker shouldn't have been on that tight to begin with and the customer service rep acted like I just took his wallet. Had a rude tone and acted like I was a bother to him. While I am supposed to be receiving replacements in the mail, customer service attitudes toward customers is piss poor.
