Colorado Democrats want gun manufacturers held liable for crimes committed with their guns

Recommended Posts

I don't think this would ever survive all the court challenges it would face. I still believe the ultimate goal of the libs right now is the universal background checks, hence, hidden gun registry. All these ridiculous proposals are meant as smoke screens to make the background checks look like the lesser of the evils.

They did this crap in Miami years ago.  If I remember correctly, it was a civil suit where the gun manufacturer was held liable for the shooting of a school teacher by one of his student/thugs.  I'll have to find the story again.  It pretty well killed the importer/manufacturer.  I believe it was a Raven .25 or something along those lines.

Isn't there already a law on the books protecting the manufacturers from getting sued like that, and are they wanting to repeal that particular law?

In the article, they reference that federal law.  They were hoping to get it repealed though....

Full court press.  Demonize guns, and by extension, gun owners.  Attempt to embarrass, make it as difficult and expensive as possible, ridicule - I'm waiting for someone to propose an updated version of the yellow patch the NAZI's made jews wear.

I'm rapidly coming to agree with the viewpoint that it isn't the guns they hate - it's the gun owners.

When will this stupidity stop?  Why is all the jumping on this gun control bandwagon so popular with with democrats/progressives? they got thier hats handed to them on the way out the door in 1994. Do they not think that it will happen to them again ?

The usual dem. BS, every one else is at fault except the actual shooter !!! :stunned:

Well you're obviously a racist who hates the poor and eats babies seasoned with the blood of puppies. How can you possibly blame the poor innocent shooter who was slapped by his mama when he was six? He can't be expected to resist the temptation of the evil gun manufacturers, now can he?

They hadn't demonized gun owners and manufacturers enough in the press back then. Now it is being made clear to the public that every time a shooting happens it is the fault of the NRA, manufacturers and all gun owners. It's funny really, when you consider the liberal backlash from those anti drug commercials which suggested that drug users/buyers were responsible for all the violence in Central and South America. For some reason that correlation doesn't work, but an inanimate object locked up safely in my home is responsible for a shooting that takes place 2,000 miles away. Edited by TMF

The organized left has been steadily winning since the early 20th century by recognizing that their ever-greater controls act as a ratchet.  Click.  You can't do A.  Click.  You need a license to do B.  Click.  People who do C are outmoded / racist / backwards / an out group, so why protect them?  Click.  Notice that the power and size of the government only moves in one direction. They know this, and gun owners have always been a target.  It's never been about guns; rather it's always been about control.  The guns are a large nuisance to them, but the control of individuals is the ultimate goal.  Some of us read "1984" and saw a warning, while others seem to view it as an instruction manual.

Somewhat off-topic, anybody else ever notice it's only one side that demonizes private citizens and businesses that choose to deviate from or deny the current truth?

An excellent explanation!
