Could Martial Law Be Right Around The Corner For Americans?

Merely a week after military exercises featuring Blackhawk helicopters were flown over the Miami skyline, the Florida Highway Patrol has informed the public that it will set up “vehicle inspection checkpoints” on specific roadways in at least six Florida counties that will be established during daytime hours.

"Q: What are “vehicle inspection checkpoints”? Troopers aren’t mechanics, so why are they checking my car?"

I don't know about this being much. It's one of those "need more information" things. Could be just a routine thing, Mark. Did

anyone mention Homeland Security being involved? Didn't see it if they did.

No, it just seems to be an incremental build on other things going on around the country at this time.

I count on others like you sometimes to help test the veracity of some of these things, I don't necessarily endorse these articles, just put them out there for others to be able to see what's out there, whether it be good or bad.

It just seems that this is something that should be done at the annual inspection of the vehicle, or when a vehicle is stopped for some other violation, rather than randomly.  Will they soon be randomly stopping cars with children in them to see if the parents fed them breakfast that morning?  How much intrusion is to be tolerated into people's lives in the so-called interest of "safety" or whatever other reason?

I have already read a story, which I posted on TGO about a year ago, but can not find it, about a family traveling through TN to Florida to go to Disney.  They were stopped by VIPER (DHS/TSA) for no reason and asked where they were going.  To me, that is not tolerable.

My guess is they are lookin for somethin in particular.  South florida is a hotbed of dope and thug activity; and lots of stuff can come into the ports of entry there.   With all the noise bein made by the "ancient ones" in the middle east; some nut groups may have been emboldened with our present policy of not punishin any potential enemies of the USA; and might be totin some bad stuff around.  I suspect they could be lookin for low level radioactive stuff; but that's just a wild guess.  If ya slow down, the detectors can pick it up. They aint doin this just for the symbolic effect.  They may have been tipped off about somethin.  Who knows.

Could be.  I have a friend in the Tampa Bay area and he tells me about all kinds of weird sh... stuff ... happening down there.

I don't think slowing down helps much on detecting the radioactivity thing.  I posted and article here about 9 mos. ago about a trucker who was pulled over by ___ (don't remember who, maybe DHS/TSA, or other agency) for a radioactivity alert while he was rolling.  Seems like he had an x-ray done at the dentist that morning or something of that nature.  I am NOT kidding.

The Chattanooga PD regulary "profiles" vehicles that come from GA into TN via I-75. High dollar vehicles with tinted windows and FL tags will get you extra scrutiny. They will then pull them over for any minor offense, or "your vehicle matches the description" and then begin their fishing expedition. I would suspect our State Troopers work in a similar manner.

Having lived most of my life in Fl, I think they are using this as justification to go fishing for much bigger things.  Stop someone, find faulty equipment, license, etc.  Then it is game on, Any guns?,any drugs?, mind if I look in your trunk?

I agree with Leroy. The amount of Imports that enter this country through Miami are enormous. I've seen several news reports lately that say al-queda is promising something "shocking" for the USA. They could be operating on a tip or a new lead.

Florida doesn't have annual inspection requirements, or at least they didn't when I lived there. Also odd for FHP to be doing this. Generally speaking they don't have many Troopers on duty per county, unless it's on one of the major corridors like the turnpike, I-4/75/95. Certainly not enough for "checkpoints" of any kind that would cause several Troopers in a county to be static for a length of time. They'd have to be pulling a lotta guys on their day off to staff this. I'm thinking this is a joint effort with Homeland Security based on intelligence. Area denial/shaping operation type stuff.
