CRAP..!!!! Dead batteries!!!

Those were my words about 6am this morning. 2001 dodge diesel so I had to buy 2 danged new ones. Just got em in. Driving in to work in the wife's car, I was thinking and couldn't remember how old they were. I knew they were old after digging for the receipt when i got home because it was barely readable. Feb of 07..!! Pretty good batteries I decided. So, I went right straight to Wally World and got 2 more Maxx 27's...(No...they didn't have any ammo!! Dang it) $89 each.

Hope I get 6 years out of these new ones.

I've had better luck out of walmart batteries than autozone batteries.

Just replaced my two in my Dodge about 6 months ago , feel your pain.

If you ever need more try Deka batteries. They have a wearhouse in Gallatin. Great guys, and made in PA. You can also get blemished for half price with warranty. I got two for my Dodge diesel, the nice gel ones. Under $200!

you got off real cheap.  two batteries for my ford f250 diesel i dropped about $350.00 for them.  wal mart does not have my size.  last week i dropped 150 plus for one tractor battery.

Went out Sunday on a bike I haven't had a chance to start in a couple of months.  Battery was dead as could be and wouldn't take a charge.  Only had it 14 months.  Battery from the factory lasted 4 years.

Get a battery tender and a quality battery.  I went through 4 walmart batteries in 3 years in my bike.  Forked over the cash and got a Yuasa.  It's been in there for 5 years.

Yup , seems like I have to replace my 4 wheeler battery every year.

After working the automotice field for 7 years Ive found that the "higher quality" higher priced batteries fail at a comperable rate. . one thing to remember when buying a battery higher cranking amps does not mean longer life. . .If you are comparing two batteries in the same case size the one with higher cranking amps will have thinner boards to accomodate the higher amp output. . thinner boards are more likely to fail when presented with oppurtunity. . also the more a battery is discharged during the life cycle the more prone to failure it will be. Batteries are made to stay charged. . even deep cycle batteries should only be cycled to 60 percent of capacity. Same with alternators they are not made to charge batteries they are made to keep a charged battery charged. . .

This one was a Yuasa that I got at Mountain Motorsports.  I over paid for it but they kept my bike for 4 months for warranty work and killed the factory battery that was in it.  BTW it was more the fault of Suzuki Warranty than it was MMS for it being 4 months.  If anyone is considering buying a Suzuki Factory Warranty I can say that the $500 I have spent on it has saved me about $6,000 so far, I did however have to spend multiple hours on the phone and present my own service records after the dealer (Not MMS) recorded my mileage wrong between services and voided my warranty.  Only time I have ever had to threaten legal action against someone to get satisfaction.  But yes, I failed to put it on one of the 5 battery tenders that I have sitting in a box somewhere.

And you had to buy the battery?  "It was fine when I brought it here... "  

 

$6k in warranty repairs?  Dayum.  Rather than buy the warranty, why not just buy a Honda?    :taunt:

 

 

But this does remind me that I need to plug the tender back into the other bike and mower...

Until I moved to Tennessee I didn’t know there are Northern and Southern batteries. Now I buy my batteries when I’m up North.

Yep, been there, done that! In warmer weather I didn't realize I had one bad battery and it cranked just fine. Then the weather got real cold and the wait to start light takes thirty seconds to go off while the glow plugs heat up, turn the ignition switch to start and not enough power to crank the engine.

 

Get the volt meter out and sure enough, one good battery and one dead one. It doesn't make sense to just change out one does it? I got 6 years service life out of mine.

Just picked up a sears diehard platinum (agm). They are supposedly made by odyssey. Car definately starts quicker and voltage doesnt dip below 13.8 even with a heavy draw.
