You know those 30,000 drones?

Recommended Posts

Didn't think that it was.

I didn't think that you did, but the linked article was worded to make it sound as if they had "uncovered" the top secret list. When in fact the EFF had sued under the freedom of information act to get the full list released last year. It was all over the news if you knew where to look.(three pages back in the science/technology section of your local newspaper sometime last summer)

"While the use of drones in the U.S. is little known"

FULL LIST REVEALED HERE"

In the engineering school here on campus there were posters plastered every 60 feet or so for the majority of last semester trying to entice engineering students to join the computer science students in an autonomous flying vehicle(drone) competition. The only reason many more universities aren't on that list is because they test fly their "drones" indoors.

I generally just get tired of the news media of trying to make the American people scared of everything because fear works for increasing ratings. There are many great uses for drones(border patrol, forrest fire monitoring, regulatory monitoring of drilling operations) that I worry won't come fully to fruition b/c the news is too busy making the public scared to death of all of them.

There becomes a reasonable concern when the White House releases memos and decisions that reveal their potential usage

against American citizens, wouldn't you agree? It's not that there are drones being tested on college campuses, but the devious

use of technology that the government has expressed interest in.

There is a reason for concern until the government changes their ways. If someone believes otherwise, that someone should pay

attention to the news that has been circulating from reputable sources. Nothing at all wrong with technology, just the use of it in the

wrong hands.

Yes but just like I as a gun owner doesn't want guns judged by the acts of a few bad apples with guns, I don't want drones catagorically rallied against b/c of politicians bad ideas of uses for them.

We must clearly take issue with those in office who would misuse the drones and their actions, rather than the drones themselves.

If GWB was doing everything the BHO is currently doing...there would be mass riots in the streets fueled by leftwing media, and they would be burning him in effigy and calling for him to be dragged out into the street Mussolini style, impeachment be damned.

And if we would do it we would be deemed enemys of the state and subject to that asshole's drones strikes.
