I've got to wonder though, these laws we've been discussing in other threads about concealed carry firearms. Every town seems to have a law about carrying a weapon. Has anyone seen the wording?  Are we going to be in the same situation?

Yes. IIRC, there is no state supremacy law on the books regarding knives. Any local ordinances would be valid.

Nope.  The bill we are discussing has a supremacy clause.

This bill specifies that state criminal law regarding weapons is preemptive with respect to the transfer, ownership, possession or transportation of knives and no city, county, or metropolitan government may occupy any part of the field of regulation of the transfer, ownership, possession or transportation of knives.

I would urge you all to contact everyone you can about it.  We have three days until its heard again and its likely to be a split vote.  We need to make sure that our legislators know the facts.  Tell them to look at the fiscal note that is attached.  1 arrest per year for switchblades.  It saves the state money for housing the "criminal" and saves locals money (time spent dealing with it by local LEA).
