I saw this in an ad on some site I was browsing, and it is very intriguing...

It's a modular .22lr that can be setup as a handgun, rifle, etc. Takes 10-22 magazines.

I am not on top of all the laws regarding this, but the do spell out very clearly that you must go the SBR route if you wish to add their stock to the setup.

It is legal to go from a pistol to a rifle. Providing the stock is added after the 16" barrel has been added. It is NOT legal to add a stock before adding the 16" barrel.

I am assuming that mounting it to the bottom rail of an AR also turns it into an SBR or is there something different about that? Edit: Watched the other video on the ZipSBR and answered my question.

It's a cool concept but I don't see a lot of use for it. I would rather have a folding stock SBR 10-22 for a comparably compact survival weapon. Not saying that I don't want one though, impracticality hasn't stopped me in the past:-) Edited February 5, 2013 by Romad7

They state in several places on site you must get SBR stamp if using in that way.

Couldn't find a price, bit that I looked very hard. For $250ish I think it'd be interesting but pretty far down the list as far as actually buying. Any more $$$ and I'd most likely be out.

I think retail is, as stated above, $199. They feel they'll get $500 for one. You could do 1 Ruger Mark II/III and a lot of ammo or even to Ruger's.

Reminds me of a friend's Tec22 20 years ago. Except cooler because it's bullpup. Hindsight says we probably hadn't properly lubrucated it or tried different brands of ammo to make it work. But at that point we were used to Glock and AK reliability and a gun that jammed was not worth messing with. The price is right, I can actually afford to shoot the caliber and when I actually have money in the rathole I could definitely see me buying one of the basic model just for fun. Thanks for the post.
