After seeing all of the "Sheriff 2nd Amendment Support" stuff all over the interwebs the past few weeks I started wondering why none of the TN Sheriffs have chimed in on the debate.  I sent a letter to my Sheriffs office asking what his position was and if he was willing to publicly make a statement.  This is the response I got.

 

Although gun violence does need to be addressed as evident in recent tragic events across the country, Sheriff Hall supports citizens’ protected rights to bear arms under the Second Amendment and does not support any laws that deprive citizens of their constitutional rights.  He does not foresee the day that sheriffs would be taking guns away from anyone who legally has the right to possess them.

First Daron Hall is a huge Democrat and word is maybe the next mayor of Nashville. Second he has no law enforcement power along with his deputies so they really don't have a force so to say that could do anything. But this gun ban confiscation hype is all at the federal level locals have nothing to do with that. They could ban pistols federally but until it is outlawed at the state level locals can't arrest you in Tennessee.

Like macmonkey, curious why I hadn't seen even 1 out of 95 sheriffs in a pro-gun state say anything public, I sent a similar note to our sheriff in Knox County a few days ago through the department's website.  No response so far...

I really believe that most of them will stand behind what they say and would quit their jobs before they were forced to attack their friends and family. (A man can dream can't he, unless it's a stupid deam.)

Kind of sounds like a way out if you ask me. If they pass a law to make a firearm illegal, we won't have the legal right to possess them. So to me that means they could be coming to get our guns.
