My dream 10/22 (target version) just about complete.

I've always been a fan of the good ol Ruger 10/22 platform and I have owned many, all of which end up getting modified.  I always dreamed of building a "accurate as it can be" target version, and a super light field version.  Well... I emptied the coin jars in Coinstar the other day, claimed my Amazon money (almost 800 bucks!) and went shopping.  The bits n pieces promptly arrived from Tony at Kidd Innovative Design, and here's what I ended up with.  I already had some of the goodies, but I added the stock, barrel, bolt, charging handle.  The Kidd two stage trigger was in my other lightweight field plinker, and I did a trigger job on that and moved it over to this one.  What do you all think?

I love my 10/22's also, have a bit of KIDD here a bit of Volquartsen there, just stock barrels and not full tilt boogie like yours.

FWIW, yours certainly has my seal of approval. :)

Fantastic, a totally cool gun. What type sighting system are you using?

None yet, thinking of a Mueller Eradicator in Silver....what are your thoughts?

I was thinking of using the DNZ Game Getter one piece mount, but they dont offer a 20 moa version....trying to sort that out before i hit the buy button on the scope.

Well with my other (lightweight version) i could easily keep em inside an inch at 50 yards, But the TacSol barrel is so light it was hard to hols still.  I have a few 22 bolt guns, and my Savage TRRSR will keep them in just about an inch at 100! Using Wolf MT and no wind. I have a 20 moa rail on that one and we shoot it out to 300 yards.  Groups at 300 are about 12-15".  Point is if I can get even close to that with this semi I will be a very happy camper.

Once I get a scope on it, or rob one from something else I will definitely post results.  I have used a bunch of bull barrels in the past and I have heard great things about the Kidd barrels.  At 300 bucks it better perform!  The trigger is set at 8oz/8oz, the bolt is properly headspaced, so it should all pan out in decent weather.

The only stock part of this gun is the receiver, which I have obviously cleaned up.  However I could have used a after market receiver.  I didnt because this was literally my first firearm, and the nostalgia in me wanted to keep the orig receiver.  It's had god knows how many round through it, but it has always been an accurate little gun.

I will likely bed it eventually, but want to see what the accuracy progression is first.

I have a WIDE variety of 22 ammo to try through it, but I suspect the Wolf MT will shine, along with Wolf ME, and CCI Target.  These have always done very well for me in the past.  For faster stuff the M22 has done surprisingly well for me out of my bolts guns.

Here are the results of some of my bolt gun 100 yard tests.

Overall looks like a good scope. Seems like a lot of magnification for a 22lr. Others here could give a much better assessment. I would like to here the opions of more experienced shooters as I'm in the market for a 22lr scope also Edited by glock55

The Mueller APV and APT are very popular on high end 10/22 builds from what I have read/seen. I want just a little more magnification so I can work on my breathing, trigger pull, and wobble zone.  The extra zoom really amplifies imperfections in my technique, and I figure it would be a useful learning tool.  One of the reasons I wanted something like this is for low dollar practice for my larger guns.  The 22 lr round is also more susceptible  wind and drop, so I hope it will help me in that for my longer range centerfire goals.  I have already doped the scope caps on my other 10/22 and can dial any distance out to 250 yards for specific rounds like nothing and bust a skeet.  I plan on doing a more professional job of that more this rifle.

Long story short, you should really check out and read up on the APV.  Side note....the other scope I use is the BSA Sweet 22.   Its not the best but with a little tinkering it is pretty useful.

Where are you shooting at??

Until I find something more convenient outdoors I shoot at Terry Waldens place in Manchester  (which unfortunately has a 2 deg drop).  Indoors I shoot at OnTarget a couple times a week for pistol.  I am looking for a 1000 yard range to try some stuff with my 30-06 and .223 bolt guns.  Not that I think I can shoot that far (yet), but I would like to see what my groupings are at 600.  I can keep 3 shots in 1" consistently with my 22-250 and 223 at 200 yards with my handloads.  It took me a while to get there and I think it would be fun to see what the loads do out farther.  Im looking forward to warmer weather with less wind so I can print some paper at 300 at Terrys place though..

Well I settled on a scope and DNZ one piece mount.  I got the Eradicator from Mueller.  Looks pretty good but I'm not supposed to " know " about it till after my son "gives" it to me for my birthday. I'll pics once I re-open the package and mount it.  Finally get to shoot it soon.....cant wait!

Let me know how you like that charging handle. I've been throwing around the idea of getting one.

So far I like it.  Its not much longer than stock but just enough longer that grabbing it with a scope on the gun isnt a chore.  I can tell you it is much much smoother than the stock pull.  It also came with three spings... Subsonic, Standard Velocity, and High Velocity.  I put the subsonic in this gun, and have the standard in another.  So far both cycle just fine with either type of ammo, No ftf, fte, or ftl with either yet with any ammo.....using Tactical Innovations mags, Butler Creek metal lips,  or BX25's yet.
