Hmmm.. Surprised I'm the first to post. It went better than I could have expected. The owner Joe came out and talked to us for longer than I would have thought. Nice guy. It was his manager that defended himself and his job is safe. He gave us details but I will let David or Chris fill you in on the details... they will do a better job I'm sure.

Okey

It's good to know that he will not be punished for protecting life and limb.

I agree with Okey, it went very well. The owner was a super-nice guy. The manager and owner shoot together regularly so the manager is in the clear for sure as far as his job goes. (The owner was carrying tonight as we spoke) The owner said that the local leo's were very supportive of the actions taken by the manager as well. We told the owner about the site and hope to see him as well as the manager here soon.

Here are the basics of the shoot as we were told.

-The BG had robbed another Sonic prior as well as robbing a carhop.

-The BG came into the Sonic and poined his gun at the managers fiance, then pointed the gun at the manager. The manager stepped in front of his fiance, to protect her, then fired three rounds at the BG. Two struck the BG while the third tried to kill the ice cream machine(It survived:p)

-The manager was shooting a .45 of some sort.

- The BG then called his mommy and cried about getting shot, then went to the hospital and said he got shot walking down the street or some bs.

- The fiance is now in the process of getting her permit.

I love a happy ending!

I read in NRA's magazine that a Pizza Hut employee, a delivery driver, lost his job for defending himself with a firearm. He had a legal carry-permit. This took place back in April 2008. At least Sonic hasn't fired the guy.

Yea, that story was big news. Pizza Hut has rules in place that does not allow employee's to carry a firearm while on the job. It's a stupid rule, especially for delivery drivers.

Last year, a pizza delivery driver (not sure of the company) was robbed, and the person who ordered the pizza was shot during what was supposed to be a "routine delivery". This happened in the same condo complex I lived in at the time. That's a perfect example why the should be allowed to carry.

Yes it went very well. I've been out of pocket all weekend but wanted to say it was very nice meeting Justaguy and Okey and enjoying a bite in what I now know to be a safe and gun friendly environment. I encourage all to patron the Sonic in Old Hickory whenever you get a chance.

I plan to stop in there this week, when I can make it up that way.

Nice to meet you too!

How many people turned out?

Well if you include David's wife and daughter, five.

After Having a good freind of mine killed while working at sub shop I firmly believe that these fast food companies should start looking at changing there rules. It would actually save them money and employees. It makes me sick to hear that someone could lose their Jobs for protecting the employees that the company says they care so much about.

Wow! 7 pages and I would have expected more!

Well it was last minute so a lot of people that would have come were unable.

Hopefully if (more like when) something like this happens again we can plan something similar with enough notice for a larger turnout.

Gee, guess what I am not eating anymore!

You guessed it!

I'll eat Chester Chicken from a Loves Truckstop before Pizza Hut now.

I am getting to the point that I am not going to support ANY business that won't support me and my rights under the Second Amendment!:koolaid:
