I guess i might as well get used to it...

Recommended Posts

I sure hate to pay a dollar a round for .223. But i guess if i want to do any shooting that's how it's gonna be. Either that or hope and pray I can catch Walmart with some. Wonder where the new price for .223 will settle in  when all this crap is finally over?

All I can say is, settle down and wait it out a little while. If everyone did this, the price wouldn't be so damned high. Panic

buying always raises the prices. If the politics gets out of the way pretty soon, it will probably go back down close to where

it was.

I went with a friend out to TN Gun Country who had his name on a list out there for an AR. He asked me to look it over for him.

Windom Weaponry flattop with removable A2 handle collapsible stock. Out the door under a grand. He jokingly said he wanted

a Bushmaster. I told him he got one without the snake on the side. :D

I hope they come back down. I usually do wait this kind of stuff out. But I have an AR I built with less than 100 rounds through it. It's a travesty. I lay in bed and it talks to me... "feed me" it says..."But there is no ammo and what little there is is triple what it normally costs" i says...."feed me" it says....i guess I should be thankful i finished when I did. just before Sandy Hook. At least I have something to shoot overpriced ammo out of....

:biglol:

I know the feeling. I just built one, too. It's had a whopping 20 rounds through it. I'm waiting it out, because I refuse to pay the inflated prices.

What did the price of brass-cased .223/5.56 get down to, before it hit the fan? I don't shoot .223 very often and quit buying a couple years ago after accumulating a couple or three thousand rounds, because I shoot it so infrequently lately. Ferinstance when I was buying, the wally world federal 100 paks were about $40, which would be about forty cents per round, and didn't notice brass-cased .223 noticeably cheaper mail-order at cabelas, midway, etc at the time, especially once you added shipping. The times I'd check Sportsmans Warehouse in chatt, they didn't seem to be selling it any cheaper than wally world.

So would "going back to normal" be about 40 or 50 cents per round?

It could be had for about 35 cents a round before all the madness. Depending where/quantity I've seen it anywhere from 75 cents to  $1.10 a round.

That's about right for brass-cased ammo.  If you started reloading today with no components bought before the storm you might be able to reload at that price now.

I torture myself. I just got back from Walmart.

Don't do it.  I did 4 years ago and drove myself mad.

It's gonna be a loooooong time before things might get back to normal.  We have never seen the likes of what is going on now.

Yep, that's my take.

We're eventually gonna see a bill or two voted, but may not be till much later this year, and might not be until later next year. This is only first year of the 113th, after all, and contentious things tend to get put off as far as possible.

I think as long as stuff is pending there, demand is gonna stay high. Now you've got x number of new gun owners who will hoard ammo, too. Just like the previous ones have.

Knoxville gun show last weekend best price I saw was IMI 556 for $14.99 for a 30 round box. A deal at today's prices.

Jason

That is a good price. I may hit up the next gun show and see what I can find.

Yeah...I heve been wanting to get into reloading. I may spend a little money on getting started at that until prices come down.

Yep. I have to agree with y'all. It's gonna be a while. No change until there is a vote or something to at least indicate the direction this may go.
