Steven Kelly Sub Tactical

This is my newest custom.  This is from Montana knife maker Steven Kelly.  I found out about Steve back before Christmas and finally got the chance to get my hands on one.  I really look forward to getting one or two of his folders as I think that's where he excels but this is a great EDC piece.

This model is called the Sub Tactical.  I don't have a measuring tape handy but comparing it to some stuff that I do know measurements of, it seems to come in at around a 3.6" blade with a 4 inch handle.  The handles are shaped G10.  Steven called it tri-colored but I only see the tan and brown layers.  If there is a third color, it escapes my eye.  The handles have a great contour that aids in grip makes the knife a pleasure to handle.  The harpoon style tip also acts as a thumb ramp for fine cutting tasks.  The shape of the but doesn't really lend itself to a reverse grip but I don't do much fighting anyways.

The steel is 1084 tool steel.  Knowing Steve, its been properly heat treated but I didn't ask how.  He left the flats with a "raw bar" finish.  I like that alot.  The bevels have been polished to pretty much a mirror edge.   I think you can see my head in the primary bevel in the picture.

Overall, I really like this knife.  I just got it so time will tell but so far, its going to be one of my favorite edc fixies.
