AOW question

Just out of curiosity, I had read somewhere that the tax on AOWs was raised to 200 dollars to be on scale with other NFA items. is there any truth to this?

also, anyone know of a short barrelled pistol grip double barrel that could be registered AOW as opposed to SBS?

hopefully, I may be getting a new job that pays enough that I could indulge myself in the wonderful world of NFA, and I wanted to check on these things

No, that is 100% incorrect.

If it meets the requirements to be registered as an AOW, then the stamp with be $5.00

the serbu super shorty can be registered as either a SBS or a AOW

When ordering a Serbu, you specify SBS or AOW.

They then complete the appropriate Form 3 to transfer it to your NFA dealer in the configuration you requested.

Now, if you order an AOW, complete the Form 4 and pay the 5.00 stamp but then wish to put a stock on your AOW, you can initiate another Form 4 (paying 200.00) and register it as a SBS.

*make sure you dont install your stock until the Form 4 is returned approved.

but the Serbu is a single barrel pump action. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have one ofthose as well, but what I really want is a pistol grip coach gun

hero, thanks for the reply. I had read about it somewhere, but never could find a verifiable source, so I wasn't sure. thanks for clearing that up for me

I was wondering the same thing, but from what I could find there's no way to get what you're looking for as an AOW. It would be a SBS with the $200 tax stamp.

yes, a SBS only and as far as i know, NOBODY makes one like it.

well, I did a little research after posting and found this

Coachgun_II-2.JPG

the Hatcher Coachgun. 4 different levels to choose from. the cheapest one is 780 dollars ( before the tax stamp)

Yep, the Hatcher guns are a $200 tax stamp since they are made from shotgun receivers that were once classified as 'long guns' and not receivers only.

i LOVE that side holster for it! that with the coachgun III duo-tone is a true tactical shotgun lol!

You could buy a regular coach gun and have it cut down for less than they are asking.

You could buy one and have it cut down, true, but I don't think you would get all of the features they are advertising.
