Reloading supplies in the Knoxville area?

Recommended Posts

Well, I have everything I need to reload my own ammo. I've done so much research on the subject that I've had several dreams about reloading. Bad news is I don't have any freaking POWDER OR PRIMERS!!! I swear to God everyone in the US must think that the end of the word is coming because everyone online is out of everything. I live close to Oak Ridge and I have no idea who sells the stuff locally. A search on this forum has revealed squat. I understand that people want to have supplies for themselves but there must be one guy out there with the ability to reload more cartridges than Winchester. I want to load about 50 rounds of .308 to get myself started. Where can I find supplies? I know David sells at gun shows but with my schedule I'm lucky to make it to one of those per year.

I have a few in mind but the ones I want are all out of stock. I'm not sure about the ones I haven't researched but at this point, if someone tells me it'll work, I'll order it. I was looking at Hodgdon 4895 or something close to that. Edited by timcar86

.308 is that all you're going to be reloading?

4895 works well in the 308.  check on line with powder valley.  they got good prices for primers/powder.  they don't beat david prices, but they are the next best thing.

You might try bass pro. They usually have a fair selection of powders and a couple types of primers in stock, but they are very proud of them.

first we had a run on guns.  then a run on mags and ammo.  now it is a run on reloading supplies.  it has got hard to find anything and when you do the price are jacked up.  i would back order some supplies from a name brand company and wait for the items to come in.

Crossroads(Randys) in Knoxville usually has a decent supply.

Where is this?

I managed to find some powder. Paid through the nose for it. Still looking for primers.

Where is this? I'm always looking for a place to find components locally. Seems very few stores stock supplies, and the ones that do are very expensive, so what I've been doing is waiting for a gun show and buying from David or ordering from wideners in Johnson city and picking up the order on Tuesday or Thursday. That's a about a 3 1/2 hour round trip and due to my work schedule it's a pain because you can only pick up orders between 3 and 5 pm.
On the up side though, I usually stop at Pal's to eat on the way back.
I just can't seem to bring myself to pay bass pro $50 a 1000 for primers yet, but I have bought a pound or two of powder there before when a trip to wideners or the gun show was out of the question. Edited by jb980

Woot! Found both at a local shop that's on my way to work! Another member here PM'd me and asked me not to say where it was so out of respect for him I won't.
Dolomite, thanks for the offer. Very generous of you.

I work in Oak Ridge, would like to get a pound of CFE223 locally.

The best powder I have found for 223 is the SMP842 that DLM37015 sells at the shows. It is also very cheap.
