What gun is this?

I would guess 90% are junk but I'm sure there's some nice guns destroyed. These buyback programs are a joke, it's not like the criminals are going to turn in their guns. Where do these people come up with these brilliant ideas? It reminds me of the cash for clunkers program. I saw some videos on youtube of these beautiful old Land Cruisers being destroyed. Makes you want to shed a tear seeing such useful items being wasted. That's our government at work spending our hard earned money.

Oh but they DO.   Its a no questions asked payday that destroys the evidence for you if your gun has been used in a shooting.   You can also, if you plan ahead, steal some guns to turn in so you can buy some more meth.   I would bet that in the major ghettos, these buybacks net any number of stolen guns, some of which may have been used for harm.   And they also net all sorts of junkers from people wanting to make a buck.  And the rest are turn ins from idiots that do not know what they have --- hey, this is a great time to get rid of great great grandads revolver so the kids don't get hurt, derp.

That looks more like it. I love what the people did in Seattle at the gun buyback. It turned into a hell of a great gun show and nothing the mayor or police could do about it. Anyone ever heard of a buyback in Tennessee? May need to hit the next one

oh for sure... what do they give a $25 dollar gift card to family dollar... i'd offer them $100 bucks for that colt python looking one and $50 for the s&w revolvers

I have not looked into it but since it is a crime for police agencies in TN to destroy working guns I don't know how they would do a gun buy back.

that isnt too hard to figure out.  Offer $100 for whatever people drag in.

-Return stolen guns to owners.

-Whitewash all the serial numbers out of the system.

-Have a big auction, make much profit.

I'd have no problem with the PDs doing that in order to "take guns off the street" and put them in the hands of law abiding citizens, while at the same time turning a profit. Of course, the media would crucify any PD that did this.
