My new long gun

Recommended Posts

Posted

Decided to put together a long range gun and this is what I came up with.

Savage Model 10 FCP with McMillan stock, Weaver mounts and tactical rings, Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 (First Focal Plane) scope.

Got it zeroed on sunday at 100 yards and it is shooting sub-moa out of the box.  SWEET!!!

How much does a Savage like this run, without bipod, scope and rings of course?

Been wanting to get my Dad a sub-minute tactical rifle as a retirement present.

I love my Savages. I have owned quite a few and I cannot recall any of them not being MOA capable.

Best part is doing caliber swaps in 10 minutes without the need of a gunsmith. It allows me to set headspace on a piece of brass I sized in my dies. This keeps the brass growth to a minimum and makes them last pretty much forever. Even when I used to shoot factory ammo I would use the factory round to set the headspace.

I am putting together one in 300 Blackout. Hoping it is, and it should be, a MOA shooter.
