we petition the obama administration to: Eliminate armed guards for the President, Vice-President, and their families, and establish Gun Free Zones around them

Gun Free Zones are supposed to protect our children, and some politicians wish to strip us of our right to keep and bear arms. Those same politicians and their families are currently under the protection of armed Secret Service agents. If Gun Free Zones are sufficient protection for our children, then Gun Free Zones should be good enough for politicians.

If nothing else the Irony of it should get their attention.

What the politicians are attempting to do as far as gun control is stupid, but asking the leaders of our country to give up their protection is equally dumb. Their are more productive ways to address this issue.

For those that don't know, the threshold changed to 100,000.

To cross the second threshold and require a response, a petition must reach 100,000 signatures within 30 days.

I wonder what criteria was used to decide this change.  It seems to me that it is possible that the powers that be are making it more difficult for the people to have a voice and change something.

I agree, spend time sending e-mail, phone calls, snail mail.

Talk to people, I talked to some at work about sending e-mail.

A quick email to your congressional reps will be just as fast and more effective at accomplishing an attainable goal, than signing a ridiculous petition that would never happen in the first place.

It may not be effective but you have to admit having the white house reply to this would be funny.

Not really, they had a scientist reply to the petition for the government to build a death star. I wouldn't expect this response to be any less of a circus
