Traveling to Atlanta

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I wondering if there's anything I need to do before I head to Atlanta in March?

I will more than likely take a couple glocks. 19-27 and or 21.

My fiance and I are just planning a weekend getaway. And I would like to know the steps I need to take in order to carry on our trip. Thanks in advance too

I am not 100% sure.

I have seen this a few times in a few places about GA carry ---

http://www.sandyspringspolice.org/getmedia/6fc54ac5-bfda-4d17-b093-e57f9911064e/Georgia-Gun-Laws-%282-09%29

Short Version
Basically to carry a handgun openly or concealed in the state of Georgia (outside
of your home, your car, or your business), you must have a Georgia Firearm
License issued under code 16-11-129 and the concealed handgun must be carried
in any type of holster or any other securing device. There are exceptions, read
below to find out what those are.

/shrug it could be old info, or wrong, I do not know.  It has never been an issue.

My initial reaction - keep driving and find a different place to go to than Atlanta.  :pleased:

Nashville's nice.  Go to Ashville, NC, horseback riding in Smokies, camping at one of the Army Corp lakes (nice actually), something...  I lived in Atlanta area for almost 8 years and am there 1-2 times per month now with my job, so I've had enough of it...

If you still plan on going, then the links peejman provided tell you most everything.  Not too much difference than TN.

Don't get on MARTA., you'll be outgunned.

haha. I live in Atlanta right now and commute on MARTA daily ... the train part anyway. Not had much problem on the train, but this is definitely true for the busses (I avoid). MARTA is posted but its ok if you have a permit, and GA recognizes TN permit. Also ... if its concealed right who's to know?
I have to say ... I came here from Nashville, and am trying to find my way back as quick as I can!

Of the few times a year i visit my brother in Atlanta ( lawyer brother, so that is one plus) i never had a problem carrying. Though i know not to carry 2 places after visiting the CNN center and the world of coke ( before i ever got a pistol or permit). Didn't know about the marta carry allow. thanks. I usually have a guide when i'm down there anyways.
