What's the purpose ?

I don't mean to sound like an arse, but it seems the purpose is self explanatory.  It's for when you want a hidden means of entry/exit.

It ain't hidden on the inside , what's the purpose of hiding it on the outside ?

Maybe so thugs have a harder time finding the way in. All they would have to do is smash that window, though. If that's the only door, maybe it's to keep the M-I-L out!

I like it.  I have a bit of experience with hidden doors and they do have a purpose.  They only have to fool one person one time to pay for themselves.

Any professional crook will watch the house.  They will know about the door.

Might want to have it in a place where it is consealed from view from off the property.

Some advice on hiding the door:  The cut line for the door is too close to the edge of the wall, looks odd, and I picked up on it before she opened the door.   It needs to be uneven on both door edges.  Like the siding lines uneven, instead of a straight cut.

Also, the faucet better work.
