Okay I'm looking for a new handgun. I've been looking at the Springfield XD in .40 or the Sig 2022. Any thoughts on these or any others?

get another glock... or a pmr-30

I currently have a Glock 19 and a Walther PPS.  My next gun will be a Shield or a Walther PPQ.  The PPQ seems to rival the Glock in form and function.

I don't know much about the ones you listed.

Rather than tell you what to buy, I'll tell you to find a range that rents handguns and give several a try, then buy the one you like best.  The old adage "One man's meat is another's poison" is very true.

There is really a lot of difference in both. The biggest one being a striker fired XD compared to a hammer fired Sig. The Sig is a little fatter but still carries ok. Magazines for the Sig will be a little bit more expensive and not quite as easy to come by.
Both guns are have a pretty good reputation and are worth the money. The Sig 2022's used to be a great value for under$400. I doubt you will find one for that price now.

This is the way to go.  Otherwise, go SIG!!

There's so many options out there, it's best to visit a range with some rentals and try them all.  Pick the one you shoot the best.

Friggen hilarious.

I've actually thought about getting a full sized Glock.

I've fired the Sig and the XD. The only thing I didn't like about the XD was the way you have to hold it to chamber a round.

Should be the same on all semi autos.  Pull slightly back on the slide and release to chamber a round.  Using the slide release is unnecessary.  I would recommend the XD if it's a choice between that and the Sig.  Same trigger pull each time as opposed to switching from DA/SA.  That screws up accuracy for most folks, even those who claim it doesn't.  Trigger pull, in my opinion, is the biggest contributer to accuracy problems.

I've shot both the Sig and my brothers XD in .45 cap. In my opinion the XD was the better gun. His is a 5" barrel so wouldn't be my first choice for an EDC. Just my 2p-

i'm a glock fan, would push you in that direction. not a fan of the sub-compacts a lot, i'd suggest a good compact like a 19 or a 23.

Take a look at the Smith & Wesson M&P line. I think you may find them better quality at about the same price. A plus is that they are made here by Americans instead of imported from Croatia if that matters to you.
