Is anyone going to the range these days?

I have 2 1/2 boxes of my 9mm Remington range rounds.  I don't want to go shoot them right now because I can't find any replacement boxes anywhere.  It's a catch 22.  Have my cake, or eat it.

Are any of you still shooting these days?  Once you run out of ammo, I guess there is no option.

I took the wife shooting the last two weekends in preperation for her upcoming HCP class. Mainly shooting .22 ,9mm, and 5.56 since I have a good stockpile of it. Gonna have to slow down a bit tho before I get to low. My cousin and her husband are getting into shooting so I took them along Sunday. Doesnt take long for 4 people to go thru some ammo, especially when Im supplying it.

I am, for now.  I have a certain amount of ammo that I am willing to use, and when it is gone, I will stop going until I can replace it, but for how, I can go for a while using .22 and some "mostly useless for anything else" reloads.

Yup.

Will have to slow down on the .223 after another couple thousand,  though. Then can shoot quite a bit of 9mm and .357mag for a while. And plenty of .22LR all along.

Don't mean to gloat, but you asked. And I don't need to see a shrink now, since the OCAHD* has turned out to be not really a sickness at all, only prudent foresight! ;)

I was fortunate enough to find a place on the Internet (LAX Ammunition) a couple of weeks ago that had 9mm and .45 in stock. Ordered enough to satisfy my monthly IDPA addiction for awhile. If this shortage doesn't ease in the next three months, I'm going to ration my ammunition and our toilet paper.

I figure if I have to suffer and ration, my spouse needs to feel my pain also

No change for me.  I haven't bought factory ammo in so long........

All this panicking BS is just retarded.  THis is why I worked for years to put stuff away.  It's also why I spend an hour in the reloading room every morning before work.

If anything, I have actually been shooting more since around September.

Just took inventory of my ammo. I'm heading out tomorrow. Only taking two calibers this time. Normally take 3 on range days, but cutting back until retail stock gets back closer to normal. Range trips for me in general have been spreading out. Need to invest in snap caps I suppose.

I'm still going reasonably regularly, though before I made it out the the hendersonville show to catch up with David/Sam I thought I was gonna have to slow down due to a lack of small pistol primers. Shooting mostly cast reloads has also postponed me joining the Nashville Armory for the time being though, even though I love thier facility. I end up shooting at a friend's home range but I have to do it on his schedule which makes it a little harder to line up. I also don't have a good mold for .45 or .40 ATM so I've been shooting mostly .38 and 9mm since I can easily cast more of them when I need to.

Good on you guys for stocking up the way you did.  It's only crazy until it works.

One thing that made it more possible for me was to mostly consolidate calibers, only 9mm pistols and .357/.38 revolvers and .223 rifles. Couple of 9mm carbines and a .357 rifle too. Hell, even have a .357/9mm Blackhawk, so you can see can wear those calibers out with a bunch of different guns.

And of course .22LR in both.

I was at Gander Mtn in Turkey Creek last week and they had more 9mm than I ever seen, it was piled up in pyramids on tables.

If you dont mind paying 20.00 a box anyhow.

I was over at Sam's earlier today, of course went by Wally there, pretty bare as usual. Clerk said they did get "a bunch" of 9mm in at the Turkey Creek Wally.

'Course the prob with that was that he was a Walmart employee and his lips were moving.

Did buy a bipod there though along with the onions I really needed, since Sam's didn't have any. :)

I was at the Turkey Creek Wall Mart yesterday and they didnt have much of anything ammo-wise, thats not why I went there and didnt ask if they got anything in.  I cant imagine Gander selling out all the 9mm they had in a week but I guess you never know these days..

As a side note, Academy in Knoxville had Remington 9mm FMJ for $21 a box this morning. They also had 100 round packs of 45acp WWB for $42.

Wal Mart Turkey Creek had a bunch of 9mm Prvi Partizan in stock yesterday morning at $15 a box. They also had some 45acp WWB for just under $21 a box. And yes, they still had some when I left the store too :D
