Midway 5.56 in-stock!

Recommended Posts

Just a heads up for people ordering through Midway.   Just because it was available and you put it in your cart doesn't mean you have dibs on it until you actually check out.

I learned this the hard way back in 2008 during the reloading supply scare on primers.   I got notification more had come in, logged on, put some in my cart, called a friend to see if he wanted me to add any for him in order to split the hazmat fee, he said yes, went to check out and it was now missing, called them and they said just because you put in your cart it doesn't draw from inventory until you check out.    Live and learn.

That's the way they all work.  Hell, I've left things in cart on Sportman's Guide and Amazon for months, reckon they're still saving them for me? :)

Well I guess you have a point.   If I'm just thinking about getting something at some point I'll put it in my wish list.   I don't put things in my cart until I'm actually buying.  I just assumed they cleared the cart after a certain period of time.

Some do almost immediately. Some don't. Amazon never clears them, Sportsman's Guide sends you an email after about 2 weeks "warning" you they might disappear, but don't seem to, at least for a couple months or more. Both update when you look at them, by price or availability, but I've had a cart run on Amazon for litteraly over a year, things I think I might want, decided against for awhile, but leave there as price reference, same with SG.

Some places the cart contents disappear when temp cookie does, but if you've made an account, they're still there when you log in. Some disappear when you leave the site, logged in or not.

But none of 'em are counting your cart against their inventory till they get your bucks.

Funny one here, I always place stuff in carts for me to easily look at later, and scour the internet for the best pricing, etc. Wifee was trying to find me something for Christmas, and stumbled across some of the items I had placed in Midway's cart. Bless her heart, she meant well, but I had no need for those items and the items that were there, were much higher than I had found somewhere else. She meant well, but didn't understand my madness. Was able to stop the order before it shipped!

That is ironic. Sort of like the Gift of the Magi in a left handed way. Or "few good deeds go unpunished". Or something.

Anyway, that's why I put stuff in carts a lot too. Since Sportman's Guide stays there for at least a month or two, and Amazon apparently forever, I stick stuff there I'm only half interested in sometimes, and also as a basic price reference, might come back two months later when I've decided I do indeed want it, or finally delete them, whatever.
