Laser Tattoo Removal? Anyone Ever Have It Done?

Anyone ever get one taken off?  What were you results like?

Took advantage of a Groupon for it tonight:  http://www.groupon.com/deals/nashville-tattoo-removal

I have quite a few tattoo's.  I have (2) that I would like removed.

1)  Being a name on my wrist that was later covered up.  The guy covering it up did a pretty terrible job.  I plan to fade it as best I can, and if its not 100% gone, go to my normal guy and get something else

2)  Name on my left calf.  I get questions & looks on it, and would prefer just to have it removed.  Not an ex or anything of that nature -- Just someone incredibly close to me during my "crazy days"

I'll get some pictures of before/during/after.  This thread will help me document the progress and if all is successful, might help those that are on the fence on getting it done :)

My lady friend is having a blue/black one removed from her wrist also (different colors respond differently apparently). She did a good amount of research prior to it and went thru with it. After her treatments her wrist is blistered for a few days. She says its "uncomfortable" but not painful. Getting it hurt worse. She's only had a couple of sessions and its fading nicely without any bad scarring. Don't have any pics or I would share.

Happy to hear npgunner!  From what I've researched, scarring almost never happens unless the person doing the removal has limited to no experience and go deeper than they originally should!  If you get around to getting a picture, would love to see it!

This is why I will never get a tattoo. Good luck with this. Let us know how it goes.

Will do Erik!  I love tattoo's -- However, being young and dumb, I got a couple I likely shouldn't have.  When I get work done now, I think it out several months in advance to make sure its something I REALLY want :)  The wrist will likely get covered with better art/work.  The calf I'm hoping to take off entirely :)

Well .... Had my first session this afternoon.

It hurt WAYYYY worse than the original tattoo's!!!!  It felt like boiling hot tiny needles sticking me!!!! Not fun, but so worth it :)

Here are some pics for those wondering!  I'll continue to post pics of my progress :)  If anyone is on the fence, I'd just do it!

That looks kinda gross. Is it scabbed over?

It looks gross because the laser is making the ink somewhat explode under the skin :)

Nope, no scab.  That white that you see is gone within about 10 minutes ... Today, it just looks a bit more faded.  No scab, no pain, etc.... :)

Looks painful. How many sessions before it's finished?

I'm hoping 6-7, but it may take closer to 10-12 depending on how well the blue comes up.  I expect my calf tattoo to be gone within 4-5 sessions ... all black, quite light in some places, and no color.  The wrist - Because its a coverup and their is darker pigment ink underneath, I expect it to take a bit longer :)

Great, glad your getting rid of the ink you don't want. Too many people just live with it. Keep us posted on the progress, I'd love to see how it fades over time

I certainly will Lumber Jack :)

It took me a while to get it done, because I don't tend to believe what I find on the internet, and I had never met anyone that had gotten it done.  When the Groupon showed up, I figured I'd give it a shot.  Spending 1/3 the price was a big enough incentive to see if it would actually work.

Protip: do not get the name of a living person put on you next time!

Figured I'd update this post for those interested :)

Just had my 3rd session done today.  Lazer was turned up to 5.8 (out of 12)  I guess, as the laser goes higher, the deeper it goes.  I started at 3.5 (3 is the lowest), last session was at 4.5, and today was 5.8 .... Today was by far the worst.

Here's some pictures of 30 minutes after treatment and 7 hours after treatment with the swelling.

I'll get some pictures up in a couple weeks when it starts to fade.  I would say it's probably half as dark as the original after just 3 sessions :)

Is it worth it so far?

Ummm ... For the specific tattoo's I'm having removed = Yes :)

Having that much pain and agony pulse through your body is overwhelming.  I will make sure I am 120% positive before I ever put more ink on my body.  Luckily, the rest of my tattoo's, I'm 120% happy about and always will be :)  My (2) regrets are being removed :)

I don't wish this pain on my worst enemy .... its incredibly bad

I am really digging the thread. I had wondered what it's like as well, but no one really seems to go in depth about the process! Glad to see it working, it's an amazing thing.

I talked to a Navy vet that said he removed his anchor that was on his forearm with mounds of bacon fat...

Wow man. Doesn't look comfortable by any means. Does the different settings have anything to do with the colors being removed? Or does it require higher setting the more "blown up" bits of ink are under there?

Happy to see you are bigbabysweets!  I'm going to try and update it every few weeks so you can see how much it has faded :)

Its not comfortable :) LOL ... We ice the area prior to the tattoo removal session.  Settings have nothing to do with color.  A different laser is actually needed.  They have 4 lasers total.  (1) for Blacks/Gray's (1) For Purple, Blue, etc... (1) for Green and yellow  (1) for Red & Orange.  What's interesting ... The laser used for the blue ink portion - you don't even feel!  Its on a different wave length for the color.  All you see is a bright light and no pain what-so-ever :)

The intensity just has to do with depth the laser goes.  They start at the closest ink to the skin and work down.  The laser literally explodes the ink under the skin and you feel this tiny explosion which feels like bacon grease.  Pretty narly, but so worth it in the end :)

I've found it's more enjoyable to cover them up with a bigger, more bad-ass tattoo.  If you're gonna hurt, the result might as well rock.

I think I'll just stick to waterproof Sharpie Pens for my tattoos!

LOL

I had no more wrist to cover up!!  And the one on my wrist was already a coverup!  LOL ... Removing the original & coverup together!
