CERT?

After reading about this on a survival/prep forum, I thought I'd bring the question to a more localized forum. Are any of you involved in the CERT program? And if so what does it entail for your county?

Do you mean this?

I've worked in this area, but I'm not sure what constitutes membership. Its pretty loose, or used to be. I was pretty interested in secure coding for operating systems at one point, but lost interest.

I have been looking into the Shelby County EMA (CERT Training Program), but not sure if I will volunteer or not. There is somewhat of a commitment during "non event" times and I am hard pressed for extra time with work and family. I am on their mailing list and from what I have seen you have to give so many hours a month. You can go speak at schools or churchs or other events, you can run the weekly test on the tornado sirens, and their are other things you can do. Once my youngest (8 months old) gets older and is not so demanding, I might do more.

So I gues my answer is no I don't do anything with an agency yet, but I have looked into it.
