Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you....and your local law enforcement. It's not out of the realm of possibilty for the feds to want to deprive local law enforcement agencies. Especially since some have shown the propensity for showing some backbone to the feds. Or it could just be that this is an unintended consequence trying to deprive civilians of their ammo. Anything's possible and nothing is as it seems anymore.

I will no longer discount anything anymore. I remember not long ago, even some here on TGO saying Obama isn't going for our guns, they said it was "tin foil hat" nonsense. Well, the tin foil hatters wern't so crazy after all, It wouldn't surprise me that the feds and Obama would do anything to control every aspect of our lives and to transform America into some European type of socialist republic. I wouldn't put it past him to have had or have in the future someone killed who could seriously challenge him.

It is easy to become one of the tinfoil hat club when one reads up and learns what liberalism/modern day communism's goal is. It

doesn't mean you have to take much of a leap from real life. We're watching it unfold every day. You don't have to be looking for

extreme situations. The media gives enough clues to make a slightly warm brain work towards it each time it's used. The most

blatant form of communism is the income tax, which just went up, but people forget things like that. Came right out of the play book.

No utility guys today ... but some guys (and one gal) cutting the grass ... maybe need to layer on more tin foil?

One of those things is not like the other.  Better go tackle her and find out who she really works for.

And it is sad you have to say this because some people might actually do it.

***************************************************

Here is what I think is going on. My opinion and I could be wrong.

As far as local LE being deprived they are lower than the FED in things like this. And because there is a shortage they will be the ones short handed.

Think about this. The fed buys the bulk so that are spending a lot and most ammo companies have several contract for ammunition so they get priority. Distributors are buying a lot and at at prices higher than LE who buys direct. LE is not buying as much as either of these and is likely getting it for less that the distributors. If I were a company I would cut them out as well.

And for those LE agencies who don't buy direct they go through distributors. Distributors buy their ammo at a set price, they don't get special pricing for selling to LE and another price for civillians when buying from ammo makers. And those distributors generally give discounts to LE and generally charge more for ammo to be sold to civillians. So the distributors want to sell to who ever pays higher. And in this case to the civillians for increased profits.

There is just a shortage across the board. Last time I checked the shelves were bare everywhere. So everyone is not going to get what they think they need much less what they want. This is not the first time this has happened. It has happened a number of times long before Obama took office.

I could be way off base on the supply channel thing but when I worked in LE it seemed like we would run low regularly. It could also be a budgetting problem with LE that they cannot afford all the ammo they want.

She apparently owns the business and is helping out today because someone is sick. She was on the riding mower, so nothing too physical.
David, she needs your contact information. When I tackled her off the riding mower she wanted to know why I thought it was a good idea. I shared with her about it being your idea and she said she would need to contact you for liability reasons ...

Let's get back to the basics...

Deprived (adj)

1. Marked by deprivation, especially of economic or social necessities.

2. Lacking in advantage, opportunity, or experience:

The OP and the article quoted insinuate that DHS is somehow nefariously depriving local police departments of ammunition.  How exactly is that the case?  Because DHS bought so much of it that local agencies couldn't source any?  Local agencies get their ammunition from retail suppliers, albeit generally on contract.  DHS contracted to receive the ammo that it did; they didn't go out and horde it up all of a sudden.  Their suppliers produced and allocated that ammo for DHS.

If anyone has made it tough for local agencies to obtain ammo right now, it's the retail customer.  You.  Me.  Everyone else who has been buying up ammo as fast as the supply houses can get it out there.  If a local police department is finding it hard to locate ammo right now, it's probably because they didn't plan ahead or because they didn't have budget allocated to purchase it until after the start of the 2013 fiscal year.  Like anyone else who suddenly has the money in their pockets to go and buy ammo right now, they're finding out that there isn't much to buy.

I don't blame the DHS for this.  And you have to keep in mind that the DHS is a sprawling organization now with a lot of child organizations beneath it.  For them to order a million or more rounds of ammo as large as they are probably isn't such an odd thing.

Or you can hunker down in your basement bunker and convince yourself that some shady shit is up.

I don't need any tin foil to see that communism or commies has infiltrated our government, and other institutions we have always deemed beneficial to our society. It has become more and more evident the past 4 years, and it looks like in the next 4 years America will succumb to Marxist/Socialist policies to the point that we will no longer recognize America as we've always known.

America has spent blood, sweat, money, and tears for the past 70 years fighting communism all across the world, and even was responsible for the crumbling of Soviet Russiain in '89, but we've let our guard down and now communism has infiltrated into Congress and the WH. And about half of the American people now don't even have a clue about Marxism/Communism, as evidenced by their votes for the One in the WH, and some Congress members, and their continued support of the MSM.

Our founding fathers warned us to always be vigilant to government tyranny, but the American people somewhere along our journey went to sleep, and forgot those warnings. And now it seems that America has a big, big, price to pay for her nap. If it takes wearing a tin foil hat and ridicule to help alert the sheeple to the dangers of communism/socialism, then I will wear it on my big head proudly.

Oh, and did I say that I hate pinko commies.

I DO blame DHS. As of 11 years ago this all-encompassing agency didn't even exist. This agency's job is to cast a shdow over all of the citizens of this country. They are at the airports, at sporting events, at truck weight stations, at malls. They ARE the police state. It's not MY fault that ammo is diificult to find. It's the United States Gov't's fault. The United States Gov't has no business buying up ammo at the rate they are. The United States Gov't has no business watching me on a street corner. The United States Gov't has no business watching what I type on my keyboard. The United States Gov't has no right to threaten to take my guns away. The United States Gov't has no right to threaten to ban any particular ammunition.

OH MY GOSH! I can't believe what I just read on your post. Where in the Constitution of The United States of America does it call for an all-seeing, all-knowing agency that's mission is to paint patriotic citizens of this country as THE ENEMY? Do you not realize that YOU'RE the enemy in your own land right now? You're being intimitated. Our kids are being brainwashed and you think it's just a matter of doing business for the DHS. Wake up and smell the coffee! Where have you been for the past 10 years? In your denial helmet? Some shady shit is up my friend and you can't smell it. I'm appalled that you would write what you did on this site.

And your an administrator? WTF? If anyone other administrators on this site feel as you do, then I'm in the wrong freakin place! And if you delete this post before a fair amount of people have had a chance to read it and comment on it, then you're a coward.

If the DHS gets first dibs with their enormous tens of millions of ammo orders, it puts a huge strain on manufacturers trying to keep up supply to other LE departments, and the civilian market, thus creating price increases and shortages on ammo. This ultimately may be what this bunch in power want, anything that would cause an infringement on gun owners rights.

Just wanted to add, in case anyone else gets a case of tinfoil poisoning and decides to go full retard like this... I don't just play a forum Administrator on TV.  I started this site, I own the site, I run the site.  I'm not just "an" administrator, I'm the Administrator.

And I'm note deleting anything.  I'm leaving this out there like a head on a spike at the castle gate... a speed bump for stupidity.

Here there be dragons, chief.

DHS is buying up crap tons of ammo.
Ammo is hard to find for LE and non-LE consumers.
There is LOTS of shady shit going on and the fed.gov is behind most of it.

Correlation is not causation however so I don't think there is any reason go overdosing on the tin foil looking for shenanigans that aren't there when there are plenty that are actually going on. Edited by Chucktshoes
