Problem is that everything across the board will be over priced from now on. It might drop some but you will never see December 1, 2012 prices ever again. Everyone across the board will increase prices. Some will raise while others will take a loss but where those meet in the middle will be substantially more than before.

Same thing happened with Saiga 12 shotguns. They were $300 for a long time then a supy glitch caused prices to climb to over $1,000. Then they settled at $600. Saiga 20's and Saiga 410's are still undef $400 if you look around but not Saiga 12's.

I saw some idiot on Armslist selling a Ruger BX-25 magazine for $135 today. Hope he chokes on it.

Why do you care? Nobody has to buy it. It will only bring what a willing buyer will pay. If I decided to sell my Apple stock that I paid $46 per share does anyone expect me to take $50 for it? No, I would accept market price (~$485). My advise: if it looks like gouging just walk on by.

Why do people care what the price is?  If you don't like the price don't buy it.  I think things are way out of hand but it is not my place to question what others ask for in return for the goods they are selling.  Also, an auction is hardly a place for common sense.  I have seen old men spend $800 for $200 guns at estate auctions with a crap eating grin on their face thinking they really made fools out of the crowd.

Have you ever heard of "willing seller, willing buyer" or "fair market value"?  It is the foundation of financial freedom.  The other end of the spectrum is government controlled socialism such as price fixing.

While overpricing a product shows ignorance of the market what I find far more irritating is the reluctance or disdain of the seller to lower a price.  Some people act like you told them they have ugly kids when you offer lower than the asking price.

The fact of the matter is when ignorant fools spend way too much money for something sellers get used to that and it drives up the cost of EVERYTHING for EVERYONE.

The laws of economics have not been repealed. When the cost of an item reaches a certain point the market will usually find an alternative which can cause the price of the original item to come down. This assumes no outside interference (the government).

I'm not mad, nor upset, nor do I want to abolish capitalism. I am, however, simply amazed at what has transpired in the last month and some change. I'm pushing 40 years old, and I've never seen anything remotely like this. I'd love to learn something from it for future reference, but as of yet, I haven't figured out exactly what that is. It sure is amusing to watch anyway.

I wonder where these idiots who are paying these prices are from. I suspect (hope) it's the Obama supporters who realize they really don't want what they voted for. They suddenly realize they may not be able to have one but really want one. Edited by Dad03

Where were you in 2008/2009?

I was around then and it was NOT this bad in 08-09.

Not by a long shot.

Some magazines were expensive, and primers were hit and miss. You could still buy an AR and 22LR ammo.

I hope he gets $300 for it. As a matter of fact if anyone wants to pay $135 for some Pmags I've got 5 or 6. I'll even ship on my dime. Yea, I'm that great.

I'll admit it wasnt as bad in 08/09 however to claim you haven't seen anything similar to what's going in now is an understatement. I worked for a gun shop and worked gun shows during those 2 years and I saw plenty of ammo, mags and guns dry up and plenty of price gouging. I personally used that as a learning experience and have been stockpiling ever since. Just to gloat a little I stumbled across a BX-25 mag I forgot I bought months ago! Edited by orientalexpress

You think it's bad now, just wait until you have to buy stuff on the black market.  Including food and medicine.

We were talking about this a few days ago. As tight as tthe supply line is on food and medicine, I expect that somtime there will be something happen that causes a disruption in the supply, and thus a run on stores and a shortage. That will be a very bad situation if people buy up food like they've been doing with guns and ammo!

I just hate to see newbies that don't know any better get taken because of their lack of knowledge. Other than that I don't care. No one is forced to pay these prices. It is the buyers choice to pay or pass. Do I like the high prices? Heck no but we have the Prez to thank for that.
