We will all eventually be "deemed" mentally incompetent.

Catch 22 all over again.

A catch-22 is a paradoxical situation in which an individual cannot or is incapable of avoiding a problem because of contradictory constraints or rules.[1] Often these situations are such that solving one part of a problem only creates another problem, which ultimately leads back to the original problem. Catch-22s often result from rules, regulations, or procedures that an individual is subject to but has no control over.

Everyone agrees that mentally ill people shouldn’t have access to guns. But where is the line drawn?

I bet a lot of people here have been prescribed some type of medication for “depression”; kiss your HCP goodbye.

I don’t see this ending well; we argue that the problem isn’t guns, its mentally ill people. But who is going to okay with opening your medical records and everything that is that laptop the nurse had when she did your history to the Federal government? Drugs to stop smoking are also used for depression. Good luck with that.

I can remember when cops couldn’t go see a shrink. If it was discovered they would be fired or never promoted. That's changed now, but that’s what will happen to gun owners.

I don’t see how anyone can justify confidentiality between a criminal and his attorney, but not between a patient and his Doctor. Well yes I do, lawyers make the laws and they will never pass something that will impact them or make them do the right thing, but they will pass those laws for Doctors.

Once again, we have strange bedfellows in this area. The ACLU will be all over it. Like them or not, they put up a pretty good fight.

If you go to any of the leftist forums, blogs, or online news sources you will get to read all of their vitriol including the occasional death threat.  Since we all know liberalism, as it is defined today, is a disease, does this mean that liberals cannot purchase a firearm?  I am all for it.  :)

Well, it wasn't my first thought when seeing him, but I'm guessing it will be from now on.

I used to hang out at a bar that had one for crowd control. It was more effective than a ball bat. Every once in awhile, the image pops into my head when I see somebody that really deserves it. :)

I think you nailed it. Imagine going to your doctor and saying, "Gee Doc, I've been a little depressed lately."  He writes it down and puts it in a data base, which the government gets. NO GUN FOR YOU!  So does that mean the people who are having problems have to make a choice between exercising their 2nd amendment rights and getting help for an emotional issue, drinking problem or mild depression? Where do you draw the line? Who makes the call whether a citizen is incompetent to own a gun?

I guess I have a problem :). When I see that picture of Cuomo, I just wanna smack him with a big rubber penis. Pretty sick, eh? :)

Nahh, he needs the ball bat. Edited by ThePunisher
