I personally consider real every day carry what you have in your pockets because im not gonna carry a bag no matter how small around with me all the time. Now i do have a get home bag in the truck and a bug out bag at home but not a bag for every day carry.

No way I could carry a bag everyday, it would get old fast and I would stop carrying it. Now I do have a get home kit in the trunk, and a bug out bag at home. My everyday carry is a couple pens, wallet, pocket knife, fixed blade knife. All pocket carry

I just recently started carrying a maxpedition collossus.

fixed blade knife
Swedish fire steel
pen/note pad
spare batteries
nebo flashlight
digital recorder
2 mags for my para warthawg
Velcro holster for warthawg
spare mag for diamondback .380
multitool
gloves/hat
knife sharpener
5-$1 coins
headache meds/misc first aid stuff
water bottle
head phones
spare battery for phone
I-pod

I started carrying the bag because I was leaving my .45 in the car at work and would pocket carry. This allows me to always have access to my primary carry and extra mags.
I alway left my spare mags in the car when going some where they do me no good sitting in a console... I never want to be in any situation where my life depends on 7 or 11 rounds only.

Keep it simple but most was already covered: gun, ammo, knife, surefire flashlight, fire starter, old cell phone (can still dial 911 even when service isn't being paid), duct tape, multitool, bottle water, aspirin.

Too much is subjective to the matter for which you are preparing the bag. I think it's great for people to plan to have a bag ready for a quick zombie apocalypse getaway.

You guys need to put some high calorie long shelf life food in your bags. Like energy bars or something similar. Water is good but I would also add some electrolyte replacement as well.

During high stress situations you burn a lot of calories and sweat a lot.

Something else I would consider is cash. Not a lot but a few hundred in small bills. Cash can get you out of a lot of situations.
