Hello from RN MEDIC. I'm a newbie. Looking forward to stopping in from time to time. My thanks to my friend James Yeager for listing this forum in his forum letting those of us from TN know about it. I'll probably read more than post, but on those cases when I chime in, hope it will be helpful.

I do want to urge all Tennessee citizens to look over at the Tennessee Firearms Assoc. group, of which I am proud to be a member. We are an informative group working to remove the very needless restrictions on our permits which are imposed by those opposed to our rights. Hope and trust that you folks will seriously consider working with us to that worthwhile end.

Just go to www.tennesseefirearms.com and you may go from there.

Wishing all of you safety with a lot of fun as we learn more about the sport of shooting, firearms, and defense.

Respectfully, RN MEDIC

First and foremost, welcome!

Second, I have been a past member of TFA and really should renew my membership. Part of the reason that I started this forum was the fact that TFA's own seems to get so little traffic anymore and locally TFA's visibility seemed to drop off the radar.

Are there no longer Rutherford County chapter meetings? The folks at On Target (the previous host location) said that they had no idea what has become of the organization.

Would love to see Mr. Harris stop in here occasionally as well, but I realize he's got to be a busy fellow.

Thanks much Tungsten. I appreciate the forum very much. Yes, I know what you mean about TFA. I remain a member as I believe TFA has been and still can be VERY effective. As to the recent dip in activity, I'd guess most people do more during the legislative session, which has just begun.

It will take a "spark plug" type leader in the various areas of the state spreading the word about what gunowners really can do. We have that in some areas, but need more in others. I truly wish my health would permit me do to more, but after numerous surgeries ( 7 vessel heart bypass in the recent past and now off work recovering from a PAINFUL shoulder surgery ) I just haven't been able to do the legwork.

In my view, one of our greatest works would be to destroy the obvious long term "log jam" in the TN House created by Speaker Naifeh. He has stacked a subcommittee called "constitutional protection" with anti-gunners who always kill anything sent to that committee for a vote; thus our legislation to remove needless restrictions can't get out of committee to the full House for a vote where it would likely pass.

If a lot of good educational effort could be put out in Naifeh's district to notify his obviously pro-gun electorate just how he has been working AGAINST their wishes, he might possibly be defeated. I'm not saying our goal is or should be to merely replace members of one party with members from another for as you well know, this issue is truly bi-partisan. We have both help/support and strong opposition in both parties in Nashville.

Hopefully with the use of this medium and any others we gun owners can muster, sufficient word will pass on to enough voters to make the needed changes we would all love to see.

About Mr. John Harris, you are also very right in that he is a truly busy man who donates many hours to our cause; hours that he could be putting into his very busy law practice, his family, etc. He is certainly very deserving of our support, encouragement, and respect; thus, If for no other reason, I ALWAYS keep my TFA dues/membership current. That is a very small price to know that I am "in the fight" to make the changes we need. At least this means we are truly on the offensive. Feels good to be on the OFFENSIVE, not just trying to put out fires on the DEFENSE.

Thanks again for the welcome. I appreciate the tone of this forum. It is one to which I'll gladly refer others.

Gratefully & Respectfully, RN MEDIC
