The legislators responsible for bringing this legislative excrement to life are Representative Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) in the House of Representatives and Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT.) leading the Senate version.  The three dissenters were Rep.Paul Broun R-Georgia, Rep. Justin Amash R-Michigan and Rep. Keith Ellison D-Minnesota. Rep. Ron Paul was reported earlier as having voted against the bill, but that was based on the original vote conducted 02/28/11. Rep. Ron Paul ABSTAINED on the final vote.

So they just rewrote an existing law which no one (?) has been prosecuted under in its 40 year existence? Still, the original law seems shady. I have a hard time accepting that the ACLU is okay with this... never mind; I don't.

Are you freakin' kidding me? I want to know why my Congressman voted for this, and I will be calling his office first thing Tuesday morning. He will hear from me LOUD and CLEAR, but maybe that's not allowed anymore. Unbelievable!

the story may be old and the original law older...but still not cool. How many people actually knew about this? very few. I'm sure there are more like it out there. laws like this are not necessarily dangerous for what they actually mean but for what they can be interpreted to mean. all it takes is one a-hole judge.

Not doubt about it being unconstitutional. Except that no one has been arrested, it should be challenged.
