PMAG! This really simplifies the AR 10 hunt for me.

Not trying to sound like a whiney bitch, but it really is time for Magpul to come out with an effective recoil pad for their stocks.

I just shoot 50-100 rounds from my 700 VLS 308 first, and then my Panther 308 feels like a pellet gun. biggrin.gif

Yep. Gas guns are softer. The recoil pad issue just came to light with my .458 SOCOM. I put the Magpul extended "recoil pad" on that one, and it still stamps a Magpul logo into your shoulder. I made it tolerable with a brake. Now, the recoil is pretty manageable, but it blows your friends' hats off :). My bolt guns have good pads.

I really like the Smith&Wesson ARs.

I would like to pick one up this summer if prices get back to normal. (I would like to see what all the hub-bub is about in the .308)?

As for recoil how do they compare to a Saiga 12, bolt 30-06, or bolt 270?

My Saiga 12 taught me very quickly why I needed a recoil pad. Took a good week for the bruising to fade enough for me to go back for any more.

EDITED to add that I just noticed the NRA appreciation badge +1 Edited by swim615
That surprises me a little. I've pulled the barrel on a DPMS for a friend, but never have shot one.
I had one made by Knights Armament I used to shoot a lot. Low recoil compared to any other semi-auto .308 and especially a boot gun..... think about that loooooong buffer tube compared to a M14 or FAL. It's a dream to shoot. I planned to own one some day, but it ain't looking good if a ban comes around in a couple of years.
